Atieno strike sees off Swindon

A first-half strike from Taiwo Atieno was enough to clinch three points for the Gulls in an end-to-end 1-0 win against Swindon Town at Plainmoor.
Atieno, replacing suspended frontman Rene Howe, rifled the ball in from close range on 34 minutes to bag only his second goal for Torquay since joining in July.

Fears of a striker crisis at Plainmoor were allayed this afternoon after the Gulls comfortably beat Macclesfield Town 3-0 to secure Martin Ling’s first home league win.

Eleven of Torbay’s cleanest beaches have been included in the Marine Conservation Society’s (MCS) 2011 Good Beach Guide after water quality tests showed no signs of sewage contamination.
