BBC’s Blast Comes To Paignton
BBC’s Blast is a network of Creative teenagers, It provides access to mentors and free events and workshops all across the UK since 2002, working mainly with young people aged from 13-19 years old.
Thursday 15th July – Saturday 17th July 2010, BBC’s Blast will be setting up camp at Clennon Valley in Paignton, to offer these free services to young people across the bay. However, spaces are limited, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Paignton Community and Sports College have just dropped out 90 spaces for other young people across the bay.

BBC Blast are offering free events and workshops, like: Scriptwriting, Radio Presenting, V-J’ing, Dancing, and Much, Much more. See below for the full list of events happening over the 3 days.
Thursday 15 July

Create a script from scratch for performance and recording in the afternoon Radio Play workshop. Learn how to write dialogue and tell a story without pictures. |

Into animation and want to experiment? This advanced animation workshop will give you a taste of different animation techniques which you can combine to produce your own style. |

Really get to grips with the art of VJing and spend some time shooting and editing your own video clips, then mix them to music to create your own live video show. |

Explore your inner voice in this exciting spoken word/performance taster. You’ll get the chance to work with a professional poet and performer to create your own spoken word piece and develop your performance skills. |

Using the individual sound parts, learn how to remix your own version of a well-known chart hit. No experience needed! |

Create drama and tell the story using voice, sound effects and music in the BBC Blast Radio Play. |

Learn the skills involved in composing music to a piece of film from an industry professional. Working with specially commissioned footage you’ll be amazed at the difference your own sound track can make to the impact and feeling of a film! |

Learn how the professionals do it in this top tips session. Find out how they get the best from their team and equipment to create great movies. |
| 3.30pm – 5.15pm | Choreography
Already dance? Work with an experienced dance choreographer to take the next steps and learn how to choreograph and perform your own dance piece. |
| 3.45pm – 5.45pm | Photostory
If you’re thinking of making your own short film, or just want to try a new and fun way of telling a story then this interactive storyboarding session is for you! Work with Photoshop expert and stills photographer Kwame Lestrade to create a unique photo story storyboard to tell your story! |
| 3.45pm – 5.15pm | Graf Art Taster
Try stencilling and graf techniques to create a BBC Blast graffiti art mural. No experience needed! |

Capture the wild in a photograph! Explore the shore and learn how to photograph moving wildlife in this photography session with professional photographer, Kwame Lestrade. |

Want to be a Fashion Designer? Take the next steps and learn how to create amazing cutting edge fashion out of existing garments and various scraps of material. |

Work as part of a team to create a locally themed radio programme to be showcased on Blast’s very own radio station Blast Out Loud. Report on local events, gigs and issues that are important to you and your mates then learn how to put them together into a package suitable for radio and the web. |

Ever wanted to try freerunning (parkour)? Working with professional freerunner Dominic Rott, learn how to take on your environment using strength, stamina and flexibility. |

Go live on air with BBC Devon and Riviera FM in this radio session. Research and create news pieces and interview your sources to tell the story to the public. |
| 10am – 1pm | Live Band Experience
Work with an expert sound engineer, video director and a live band. First you’ll get the chance to learn the basics of mic-ing up and engineering a band’s live sound. Next you’ll be involved in creating a three camera live video mix of the band as they perform. No experience needed! |
| 10.30am – 1pm | Stop Frame Animation
Ever wanted to make a film like Wallace and Gromit? Here’s your chance to work with an experienced animator to take the first steps and learn some of the modelling skills behind making an animated film. No experience necessary! |
| 10.30am – 4.30pm | Make the Cut
Want to get up to speed with your editing skills? Work with an expert editor to learn the techniques and visual language used when cutting a short film. Using specially commissioned footage you’ll get the chance to make your own cut to tell the story in your own way. |
