Big events in a miniature world in Babbacombe this summer!

Babbacombe Model Village, Torquay

Babbacombe Model Village has been amazing visitors with its miniature marvels since 1963 and become an internationally famous tourist attraction. With plenty to offer all ages, the village has is jam packed with new features and events for summer 2010.

From the 30th May – 4th June (May Half Term) and 25th July – 3rd September 2010 the village will have special extended hours into the evening for the renowned illuminations. Watch as the village takes on a whole new life of it’s own after dark as 1000’s of sparkling lights dazzle and amaze.

From 20th April – 30th September, for big and small kids, The Dinosaur Egg Trail; “Late one evening one of the dinosaurs from the 3D show popped right out of the screen and escaped into the Model Village gardens. The dinosaur is now safely back in the film, but has laid eggs in 6 locations around the gardens” Try to find all 6 and get a reward for your egg-cellent adventure!

Throughout the summer season you can also catch birds of prey specialist Ed Corrigan and his array of birds. Get up close and personal to some of natures awesome predators including a Harris Hawk, Falcon, Tawny owl and Barn owl. As Ed has a lot of commitments throughout the bay area, his presence can often be on an adhoc basis, although some confirmed dates can be found on the website. Weather conditions can also affect the dates.

The Model Village also plays host the mind blowing 4D theatre! And this year it’s not playing host to just one, but two spellbinding adventures! From 1st April – 3rd December, Warner Brothers “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” will be playing multiple times daily. And from 1st May – 31st October, Dracula 4D, a fantastic fun animated adventure for all the family will be playing at selected times throughout each day plus evening shows during the illuminations. For specific showing times, please visit the Model Village website at www.model-village.co.uk.

This summer also sees a whole new area open where the indoor Circus once was…well worth checking out!

The Model Village also includes an indoor café serving a wide hot and cold menu, an outside terrace with views across the village and a jam packed gift shop! Use the touch screen kiosk in the café area to delve behind the scenes and find out more about the history of the village as well as the latest news and events.

The Babbacombe Model Village is exceptionally good value for money with all tickets valid all day including re-entry. Prices start from as little as £6.25 for children and £8.50 for adults.

Full pricing details including group bookings can be found at www.model-village.co.uk . My advice is to allow the whole day for your visit, the village may be miniature but it’s larger than you’d expect! I defy anyone to not be impressed with this miniature marvel that will captivate your imagination and keep all ages amused!
