BMAD is BACK!

Festival Starts 29th April – 1st May

TalkTorbay enjoyed the return of BMAD today on Paignton Green. We tested our new technology and equipment and did some live video streaming! How cool is that? We can now stream video directly to our website, facebook and twitter! So keep in touch and watch our for more updates. If you want TalkTorbay to come along to your event and live stream it give us a shout! nick@talktorbay.com

Here’s an early afternoon sample of what you can expect from BMAD, although we get the feeling as the evening closes in will be where the fun begins!

This year’s Festival will take place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, starting on Friday 29th April. Because of the royal wedding and the fact that Friday is now a Bank Holiday we have taken the opportunity to open the gates at 1pm. Stuff will be going on until 11pm. Friday night in celebration of the Royal Wedding there will be a Grand Firewoks Disply starting at 9.20pm. Saturday the 30th April sees the gates opening at 10am and the same on Sunday 1st May with a full programme of arena events, for more detailsĀ CLICK HERE.

BMAD Charity Event

Every biker who comes through the BMAD entrance makes a donation which allows BMAD to make a difference to so many lives across Torbay. The Wednesday evenings are also a huge tourist attraction for non-bikers who have free access to the promenade. There are collecting cans at the BMAD trailer and committee members will accept donations from the general public and also sell BMAD merchandise from the trailer for very reasonable prices.

BMAD is fully engaged with raising monies for charities and within it’s constitution it states that 100% of all monies donated to BMAD will be distributed to their standing charities of the Air Ambulance, St Johns Ambulance and the Torbay Young Carers, in adition we receive requests from other organisations and individuals. BMAD are able to donate equipment, toys, electrical goods and other such items to improve the quality of life for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people up to the age of ninteen within the Torbay area.

How did it start?

It started in 2002 with an idea by the founders of Bikers Make A Difference – BMAD, Kelvin and Jane Halloran. That idea was to have a social gathering of bikers on Paignton Seafront in Devon. He wanted to raise money for charity and have a good time as well. Which is exactly what has happened.

Paignton Bike Night finally saw its birth in 2003 and has gone on to become the longest running largest regular social gathering of bikers in the South West of England.

Each year on Paignton Seafront we regularly have a mile of bikes parked side by side every Wednesday evening from May to Sept.

Paignton Bike Night takes place on Wednesday nights between June and the end of September on the sea front at Paignton. Gates open at 6pm.

Let us know your thoughts on the event, have you been before? Are you planning on going this year?
