Images of Torbay by Kevin Cowell
Here I have compiled a collection of fantastic panoramic photographs of Torbay and the south coast. The photographer is Kevin Cowell, of Kevin Cowell Photography, Belgrave Road, Torquay.
Kevin Cowell was born in Torquay and has lived in the area all of his life. He developed an interest in photography from an early age which continued into a passion whilst attending an art course at South Devon College.
On a trip to Australia, he met with Ken Duncan when visiting his gallery in Sydney. Ken Duncan, an internationally renowned exponent of the panoramic format, gave Kevin inspiration to follow his love of photography with a fresh approach. From here Kevin started to produce his own collection of work, experimenting with various panoramic cameras.
Whilst holding various exhibitions in the Devon area he also had an exhibition at the Olympus Gallery at Dimbola Lodge on the Isle of Wight. Where internationally famous photographers, including the late Patrick Litchfield, Lord Snowdon and David Bailey have held exhibitions.
A growing interest in Kevin’s work, with healthy print sales eventually led to Kevin’s first book in 2003, Devon Riviera Moods published by Halsgrove, which covers part of the South Devon coastline.
In 2004 Kevin opened his gallery in Torquay where you can see an ever-changing display of Kevin’s work.
Kevin’s work is now displayed in collections all over the world including the USA, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden and Germany to name a few.
Many companies and government offices own Kevin’s work including Torbay Hospital, Rew Hotels, Torbay Council.
The two galleries shown are just a preview of Kevin Cowell’s images, you can view his whole collection and of course purchase prints directly from his website, including buying mounted or framed limited edition prints.
Please leave comments below and tell us what you think of Kevin’s Images! If you get the chance, pop into his gallery on Belgrave Road and see them in the flesh!
