In Memory Radio Show, Tops Listener Figures!
Riviera FM’s Toby Martin Presented a 30 Minuet show dedicated to Death Crash Victim ‘Laura Searson’, who sadly died on Wednesday Evening on Newton Road, Torquay.
Riviera FM had reported Hundreds of emails, and calls throughout the day to find out more information on the show, and to leave ‘Shout-outs’ to Laura and her family to show their deepest sympathy.
At just before the close of the 30 minute show dedicated to Laura, Katherine Searson, Sister of Laura requested two of Lauras Favourite Songs, which were ‘The Journey – Don’t Stop Believing’, Followed by ‘Roll Deep – Good Times’, at 8pm The Station went quiet to pay respects to Laura in a 1 Minuet Silence.
Special messages throughout the show read:
“Good Night Laura, Will Miss You! Your In A Better Place Now, With Nanny and Daddy. Love You Forever!”
After the one minute silence, the show continued until 8.15 with more song dedications, and shout-outs with memories, and respects to Laura.
Toby Martins main show followed after the dedication show, and finished at 9pm.
We spoke to Toby Martin after the show, and as Toby was a good friend of Lauras this is what he had to say:
“Tuesday’s show dedicated to Laura was a very emotional show to broadcast. It was a nice way to say goodbye to such a lovely person. At one stage during the programme extra staff were called into the studio to help cope with the high numbers of emails and calls. “
“We had over 50 emails within the 10 minutes leading up to the one minute silence, the studio phones also became jamed with the high influx of calls. The programme had to be extended an extra 15 minutes. We had the highest number of listeners since the Radio station Started. My thoughts are with family and friends at this time”
RIP Laura Searson
