Maido Japanese Noodle Bar – Torquay
A brand new Japanese noodle bar has opened in Camden Market TQ1 Torquay.
Kyoko, Keryl and Jay have opened Torquays first noodle and sushi bar at Camden Market TQ1, which is situated in Lower union Lane, Torquay. Their aim is to sell noodles and sushi to the people of Torbay in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The bar is set out as a traditional teppan noodle bar, based on those you can find in the region of Osaka in Japan where you sit facing the chef who cooks the noodles in front of you. This enables you to chat to the chef if you want to or you can sit and read from a range of manga in their big red chair.
There is also a kids table where the children can draw and colour and have their pictures displayed on the wall. The menu is very simple but very tasty and they intend to change it with the seasons and introduce new dishes along the way.
The sushi and onigiri, basically rice balls, are made fresh daily and none have raw fish due to British tastes! So don’t be afraid to try it, you may be very suprised at how tasty it is and wonder why you haven’t tried it before.

We want to introduce some of the Japanese culture to Torbay providing a place where you can come and relax and have a chat while enjoying our food.
Maido is tucked away upstairs at Camden Market TQ1 which is a diverse and changing environment where you can buy unusual and creative items and the artisans of Torquay can sell their work. Its a great space to come and buy vintage clothing, original artworks, comics and entertainment memorabilia, get pierced and buy alternative clothing, one off designer baby clothes and hand made cards and prints. Aswell as the noodle and sushi bar, downstairs there is also the milkshake and smoothies bar and a seating area where you can relax and soak up the creativity.
So go enjoy their food and pluck up the courage to try the sushi, don’t forget - it has no raw fish!

No raw fish. Surely an absolute cornerstone of Japanese food, and in a fishing area. ‘due to British tastes’ how embarrassing!!
