South Devon Festival
Will Young, who shot to fame after winning ITV’s Pop Idol eight years ago, will be appearing at South Devon Festival on july 24th 2010.
Will Young has sold more than eight million records and just released an album of his best known singles called The Hits. He will entertain the South Devon Festival crowd with best-selling songs such as Evergreen, Leave Right Now, Who Am I and Changes. Joining Will are Adrian Edmondson and his band, The Bad Shepherds, The Wurzels, Joey the Lips, The Demon Barber Road Show, The Diamond Geezers and Soul Funktion. Kicking off at 11.00 am on the 24th July, the festival will also feature a food village with local food and drink and a chill out zone offering alternative therapies such as reflexology and Indian Head Massage.
The festival which has been sponsored by local companies Bays Brewery, Luketom.com and Silverstream RV Hire, all based in Torbay, will also have a beer tent, face painting, den and mask making and other activities to keep the young and young at heart amused.
The festival will also be supporting British troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the non profit organisation Tickets For Troops which offers tickets to big events to soldiers, sailors and airmen both currently serving or medically discharged since 2001, promoter Tim Barrs has kindly donated 100 tickets which will be given to qualifying troops free of charge. Raleigh Addington, Operations Director for Tickets For Troops said “This is a fantastic idea, service personnel will love this event.

There’s a whole host of free activities taking place throughout the day to keep adults and children amused, entertained and maybe even enlightened.

icycling, juggling, hula hoops, stilt walking and much more. Suitable for all ages.
Paignton Zoo will be running animal-themed children’s workshops offering badge making, painting, puppet shows and giveaways. Joining them will be Cuba the Croc and Mac the Penguin.
When not watching the bands look out for our street entertainers. Watch Elfic the Jester and his friends as they perform their quirky, comedic and sometimes downright crazy routines all day around the showground.
Helping to create a buzz about the decline in Britain’s bee population is Bee Aware. Watch their show, pick up some of their giveaways and find out why bees are so blinkin’ important.
